Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) 2019
I really enjoyed my history elective class because I received a wealth of information from each lesson. Ever since my first lesson at Humanities Hub, I have been taught multiple perspectives that the world history has to offer, and studying history has given me insights into the reasons and choices made around the world today. I used to think that studying history would be boring, but now I have discovered that there are no bounds to what history can be applied to, from current affairs to my daily life. History has taught me how to be a better person too. Thank you to my tutor for teaching me history and imparting valuable life lessons!
Pillars of Success for History
90% Distinctions for Pure History over 7 Years
At Humanities Hub, we believe that one of the key factors for our students performing well in either Elective or Pure History is the ability of our tutors not only to simplify and clarify difficult historical concepts that have befuddled many students, but also help them to master the copious amount of content by providing a scaffold. This is done by providing outlines and reviewing content whenever needed during discussions on tackling essay questions in class.
Intensive Timed Practices
Our essay-writing and SBCS (Source-Based Case Study) skills programme will enable our students to develop a strong writing ability that will help them score distinctions in both Elective History and Pure History. In addition, we have regular timed practices so that students learn the important skill of time management while delivering a top level essay/SBS. Specifically, students will be taught how to analyse questions and know what examiners are looking for, develop paragraphs, and write effective introductions and conclusions so that they can meet the requirements of the highest mark band.
Comprehensive, yet Concise Notes
Students will be provided a set of comprehensive, yet concise notes covering all topics of the syllabus. These notes will organise huge chunks of information into digestible and easily comprehensible sections which make learning easier. As a result, students will be able to effectively apply new concepts they have learnt.
Students who are unclear about content material or skills will have plentiful opportunities to clarify their doubts and hone relevant skills in a small classroom setting. Should they be too shy to speak up in class, our tutors will always be available for 1-to-1 consultations before or after class.
